Thank you so much Miss Armbrust for all you have done for our family in the past 6 years. Your devotion to the school and the children is beyond our wildest expectations, and we have learned so much from your wisdom and understanding. We pray that wherever this new path takes you, you find it as fulfilling as your many years of dedicated service to St. Michael School. Stay strong!

  4. Pete & Barb Weisenberger says:

    Miss Armbrust,
Although our children have graduated from St. Michael, we want to express our appreciation and gratitude for your many years of dedication to the children at St. Michael School and the St. Michael community. We pray for you and for St. Michael School during this difficult time. We also hope that your future endeavors will be fulfilling! May Christ’s peace be with you and St. Michael Parish.

  5. tracy youger says:

I am quite shocked and saddened from the news of what has happened to you and to the school family. You have set the tone for the school: one of dedication, enthusiasm, and expectation of hard work that leads to success. The kids go to school knowing they are cared about academically and personally. I can’t imagine what you must be going through but I hope and pray you have a good support system to help you at this time. Take care and God bless.

  6. The DiRosario's says:

Thank you for all of your dedication, patience, wisdom, leadership and love for all of the children, not just ours. We’re praying for you and hope to see you back in the fall – REALLY!

  7. Jim and Cassie Cherichello says:

    Miss Armbrust,

Seven years ago my wife and I moved back to Ohio and we immediately started searching for schools. I visited St. Brendan’s, St. Bridgit’s, St Mary’s, and of course St Michael’s. When we stepped in the doors my wife saw you and said that is Miss Armbrust she coached me when I was a freshman. Cassie also said our search is over because, if Miss Armbrust is running this school we need not to look any further because she will give our kids the discipline and education we are seeking.
Seven years later and I’m gonna say it and i don’t say it often but Cassie was right.
Thank you Miss Armbrust for all that you have given to the school and to the families at St Michaels school. I will do all I can to see that you are treated fairly and that you are reinstated. I know you did all you can do to make St. Michaels successful and I feel I owe you the same in return.

    Jim Cherichello

  8. The Jannot Family says:

    Miss Armbrust,

We are so very grateful for all that you have done for our children and the St Michael family. I have always been so very proud of the discipline and respect that the children of our school demonstrate to each other, their families and our community. It is because of your leadership and the quality of our Staff that St Michael School has been so successful academically. There is an army of supporters standing behind. You continue to be in our prayers each and every day.

  9. Jana Waltman says:

I can’t imagine starting school without seeing you there greeting every child by name and with an enthusiastic smile. Your endless energy and excitement on the first day of school and every other day was inspiring and reassuring to me and gave me the confidence to believe that every year would be a great year, every year would be full of possibilities and growth and every year I could depend on someone to do their absolute best on behalf of my child. It is no small thing to entrust a school with the education of a child, especially in a system where we have many choices. I know you took that responsibility to heart and it was evident in everything you did as the principal of an excellent school and as an exceptional person. It is my hope that we can turn this around and get you back and possibly restore the confidence that has been so badly damaged in the last week

  10. Leanne Kelly says:

    Miss Armbrust,
I am very concerned to send my children to St. Michaels without you in it. Every time I would tell folks about St. Michaels, you were the first person I thought of. You provided consistency, you treated my children the same as any other child, you had high expectations of my children. You wrote beautiful newsletters that hit home and made me contemplate how I spiritually was leading them. I have a lot of respect for you. I thank you for your service, your care for my children, and your strong faith driven leadership.
We are keeping you in our prayers and know God is holding you in his hands.
    Our deepest appreciation,
    The Kelly Family

  11. Kerry & Chris Lucia says:

    Miss Armbrust,
Thank you very much for your dedication to the children and families of St. Michael School. We have been extremely pleased with the strong leadership and values you held consistently through the years. You cultivated such a wonderful sense of community and our children have great memories of grade school – thanks to you! Our prayers are with you.
    The Lucia Family

  12. Vicki Kulling says:

Miss Armbrust, I thank you for..
    – being a person of conviction
    – making each and every child feel that they are special and loved by God
    – living out you Catholic faith by example
    – being courageous in making decisions that weren’t always easy or popular
    – keeping my children physically safe
    – your leadership and guidance
    – your compassion for those less fortunate, those in need, those suffering
    – being available to listen to each and every child
    – thinking of the good of the children first
    – providing a nurturing environment for my children to learn and excel not only in academics, but also in their Catholic faith
    – for maintaining a positive attitude despite being overworked, underpaid and unappreciated.
I thank you, Miss Armbrust. I am confident that you will overcome this difficulty. Please know that my children and I are keeping you in my prayers as I know that you are keeping us in yours.

  13. Mary Stephan says:

“Some people make the world special by just being in it.”
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

  14. Pattie Niese says:

When I stepped into St. Michael’s for kindergarten registration 10 years ago, I felt like I was home. The Christ Centered atmosphere was obvious and that starts at the top. You have always been a beacon for Christ’s love in the way you deal with the students and parents. You are one of the main reasons I went back to school to get my teaching license. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you know how much you are loved and appreciated! Thank you for all you have done!

  15. The Petruzzi Family says:

Thank you so much Miss Armbrust you have made a big differnce in all of our lives. The last time I saw you you greated us with big smile as you always do. We are praying for you every day. With the help of God we are praying we will see your cheerful smile again. You are loved by all of us.

  16. Doug Etgen says:

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of teaching in three Catholic Schools. When my family and I moved back to the Columbus area from my hometown Ms. Armbrust gave me an opportunity to teach while another teacher was out on maternity leave. What I witnessed from her during that six months only galvinized what I had already knew to be true. Ms. Armbrust works hard, runs a tight ship and there is not a situation that could come up that she wasn’t prepared for. I’ve never or since witnessed a more impressive fire drill just as one example. 🙂 Of the four principals I’ve had the pleasure to work for she was by far the most dedicated to the school mission of giving our children the best Catholic education available today. We have a son going in the sixth grade and a daughter starting kindergarten this year. I’m frankly devastated that Ms. Armbrust may not be there. In any event, thank you Tina for all that you’ve done for our family and for St. Michael School. God Bless.

  17. Jeff Simpson says:

Thank you for all the work you have done for my family. You are a leader by example and a principal that anyone at any school could only hope to have as its leader. I always was appreciative when you disciplined my children and when you enforced the resulting consequences. I was always appreciative to know that when there was an issue that needed my wife Carol’s and my attention you were both concerned and involved. We need strong individuals like you in charge. I will be writing letters on your behalf to let the school and the Diocese know what a terrible injustice I feel has happened. You are in my thoughts are prayers and I hope all those involved in your support will not stop until you are reinstated or a justifiable explanation is presented. This baloney that I have heard of philosophical differences doesn’t and shouldn’t cut it. Ezekiel 22:26 basically says one of the main duties of the priests is to distinguish between the holy and the common. Perhaps I am misinterpreting, but you in my estimation have proven through your entire career to be much closer the former rather than the latter

  18. The Luft Family says:

    Miss Armbrust,
We can’t begin to thank you for all you’ve done for our children over the years. We couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated and caring principal. You’ve given them such a strong foundation both academically and spiritually. We are grateful. You’re in all our prayers.

  19. St. Michael Teacher says:

My heart sank when I heard the unfathomable news. You have dedicated your life to St. Michael’s and created a school that is rich in Catholicism, education, technology, respect and excellence. My prayers are with you.

  20. Skip & Angela Mosic says:

    Miss Armbrust,
Thank you. Although we are only entering into our third year with the St. Michael School family, we want you to know how much we appreciate you. Your passion for our school, catholic education and for our children should be an example for all of us. Please know that you continue to be in our prayers during this difficult time.

  21. Missy Soller says:

Thank you Miss Armbrust for all of your hard work, commitment, enthusiasm, expertise, and humor! I can’t imagine St. Michael’s without you. I hope this situation can be resolved somehow. You’ve provided the leadership for St. Michael’s to be one of the best technological, educational, and traditional Catholic schools in central Ohio. I’m praying for you and the entire St. Michael community.

  22. Jason and Melissa Dykstra says:

Thank you Miss Armbrust for all you’ve done to make St. Michael the best school in the area for academics, discipline, respect and Christian values. Your dedication to the school and to its children is unmatched. You are in our prayers.

  23. The Supron Family says:

Miss Armbrust – We’ve only been part of the SMS family for a year, but you were a big part of the reason we choose St. Michael for our family and a big part of the reason we felt so comfortable there. Thank you for all you did for the children.

  24. Chuck and Kris Gehring says:

    Miss Armbrust,

As you know, our family has been involved in St. Michael School for more than 20 years. As “graduates” we want to thank you for making St. Michael School such a wonderful place that prepared our four children well for high school and beyond. You and your staff taught them to see the big picture and helped open their eyes to the world around them. Your countless hours spent for the good of all our children have not gone unnoticed but were perhaps not fully appreciated until now. Your leadership, enthusiasm and dedication inspired us. So, for all the big things you had to do (being Principal of our school and all that entails, especially hiring such a wonderful staff) to all the “little” things you didn’t (writing a monthly newsletter column, facilitating Student Council meetings, teaching Health, organizing parent volunteers for everything from first day of school to home room parents, hosting Student of the Month lunches, driving our school’s donations to New Orleans, emceeing Awards ceremonies, filming JamPackd, spending time at camp with the Eighth grade, volunteering at Bingo and the Festival, the list is endless…) we say a very big THANK YOU! You and our school are in our prayers.

    Chuck and Kris Gehring

  25. Alexis Smith (Smitty) says:

    Mss Armbrust-

I want to thank you for everything that you did for me in my elementary years. You were more than just a principal and healthy teacher to my class, you were also a volleyball coach. Our volleyball team never lost a game, and we owe it all to your dedication and guidance. It showed your commitment to us and all your students, so once again thank you.

  26. Kelly Hamilton says:

    Miss Armbrust,

Our whole family wants you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have always appreciated your dedication to St. Michaels school and students. You know and care about the well being of each student. You are decisive and transparent (ALWAYS willing to talk through anything with parents and students in a timely manner). Youth thrive in this type of environment and it is missing in so many places. We are blessed that our girls had the opportunity to be part of it. THANK YOU! In times like this, I turn to a favorite bible verse…Philippians 4:6-7 “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests know to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”.

God bless, Chris, Kelly, Katie, Jessica and Jennifer Hamilton

  27. Diana Coughlin says:

Although I haven’t lived in Columbus since I graduated from St. Michael’s in 1999, bad news travels quickly. I heard about the unfortunate events that happened earlier in the month and wanted to reach out directly to express my unhappiness. More importantly, however, I want to thank Miss Armbrust for the positive impact she had in my life. I have very fond memories of her from my time at St. Mike’s and an immense amount of respect for her dedication to the school and its students. It’s only as an adult that I can look back and fully appreciate everything she did for me and all those that came before and after. I wish her the best of luck and want her to know that I have written many letters on behalf of her cause- She is in my thoughts and prayers and I only hope that when I have my own children, they will be lucky enough to have such a dedicated, loving principle in their own lives!

    Diana Coughlin

  28. Peter Luft says:

    Miss Armbrust,

Thank you for all you have given to the St. Michael school and our parish community. Your contributions to the growth and development of our four children has been invaluable and will continue to impact them throughout their lives. Your leadership and commitment to the St. Michael school is unparalleled and greatly appreciated.

At this evening’s prayer service (7-29-10) I was truly impressed to see you walk in and take a seat with all of us! This speaks volumes about your integrity, values and beliefs and is an example for all of us in the St. Michael community to follow. You are a true leader and will be successful in all of your pursuits.

Know that you and our school are in our family’s thoughts and prayers.

  29. The Ogden Family says:

    Miss Armbrust,

Thank you for your hard work, dedication and love for St. Michael School and our children that is so evident when anyone meets you. We enrolled our eldest daughter in first grade last year. I remember the day class lists were posted the first face we saw in the parking lot was yours. Your smile and enthusiasm for the new school year was contagious. You welcomed my daughter and helped her to feel at ease and become so excited to begin the school year.

I also have to share a little story. My parents, visiting from Nevada, came to the final awards ceremony this past school year. Both my parents commented at how wonderful it was to see a principal so involved with the children and staff and who seemed to know everyone and was so happy. It was evident to them you love what you do as principal. My mother said she was impressed how well behaved and well mannered a group of kindergartners through third graders we have at SMS and how well they listened to you and respected you, the teachers and others; something that is rare in other schools.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

  30. Sandy Zapior says:

    Miss Armbrust,

Our family’s thoughts and prayers are with you. It’s hard for us to imagine entering our 16th year at St. Michaels without your leadership. It was a great school when Jaclyn entered in 1995 and has continued to improve thanks to your vision. I’ve worked with you a lot over the years. It was the past three years that I served as a member of the School Advisory Board that I learned to truly appreciate your passion, enthisiasm and dedication to the school. You’ve been a tireless advocate for SMS. We thank you for all you’ve done for our children. You’ve made a positive impact on all our lives.

    Take care and God bless,
    Sandy Zapior

  31. Mark and Janet Horstman says:

    Miss Armbrust-

Thank you for your many years of service and dedication at St.Michael School. We will never forget how welcome you made our children feel when we moved to Columbus 16 years ago. Tommy, Lesley and Bradley will always cherish their time spent at St. Michael School. You taught them Faith, Love and Discipline and the true meaning of being a “Caring Christian”. We like countless others, will continue to pray for you and the future of St.Michael School and Parrish. Stay strong and know that you are in everyone’s thoughts and prayers.

    The Horstman Family

  32. The Baumgardner Family says:

Thank-you so much for caring about my two children, i can remember how you told me it’s hard not to laugh when dealing with our son Bryan. He put alot of things to the test and you took the time to show him you cared. My family wishes you the best ,because you were the best. 🙂

  33. Jeff and Mary Harbrecht says:

Thank you for doing your best for our family for 13 years. We are praying for justice and trying to understand this whole painful process. Know that there are so many people who support you and are thinking of you. God Bless you.

  34. Mary Ann Jepsen says:

    Dear Ms. Armbrust,

First off, please know of my family’s prayer and support during this difficult time. It’s nearly impossible to imagine how something like this could happen to someone who has been so dedicated to her job for so many years. You have given the greater part of your life, your energy, and your heart to an institution that you believed in and were willing to fight for. To find that in one sweep of the pen, your life’s work, your identity, and your dignity is considered unworthy must be nothing short of devastating for you and the multitude of families who have respected, trusted, and valued your leadership at SMS over the years. That such a thing can happen in a Catholic institution, and most especially in the way it was executed, hurts not just those who are involved at SMS but even those who hear about it peripherally. Word spreads quickly and it seems this situation is hurting Catholics beyond the confines of St. Michael parish and school.

Secondly, I thank you for your years of dedication. As you know, our four children are beyond St. Michael School now, the older ones being college graduates. Interestingly, they all still hold great fondness for their time at St. Michael. In no small way, you contributed to the fondness they share and the success they now enjoy. We are grateful for the foundation you helped to plant in their lives and the fond memories they now treasure.

In prayer for you and the St. Michael community,

    Mary Ann Jepsen

  35. Andy and Laura DeCocker says:

    Miss Armbrust,

It was exactly three years ago that we were trying to decide which school to send our three children to. We knew no one in this town. We had three weeks before school started to find a school and house. You were the reason we sent our children to St. Michael school. I remember sharing with you that we had been through moves before and we would get through this too, but the main concern was finding the right school…that day! I shared that I trusted God would put us where we were supposed to be. He certainly did.

Thank you for everything you did for our children and all the students at St. Michael School. I will continue to pray for you and the St. Michael School families.

    God bless you,
    The DeCockers

  36. Andrea Wilson Walton says:

Dear Miss Armbrust- thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication and love toward my son Tyler. I knew when I spoke to you 4 years ago (when Tyler was not yet 3) that he belonged at St. Michael- with you! I don’t know what the future holds, but I am praying that our efforts to get you back will work. Over the last few weeks I have questioned so many things- whether to move Tyler to another school- to leave St. Michael Parish- to yell and scream! But, that wouldn’t do you justice, so I will continue sending letters and e-mails DEMANDING your reinstatement and pray that my prayers are answered. We need you- our children need you.

    All our love and RESPECT,
    Andrea Walton- Tyler Flewelling

  37. Debora, David, Michael and Kristopher Wenger says:

Miss Armburst, Thank you seems to small for all that you have done. We can only hope and pray that we will continue to have people like you, guide us through all our educational hurdles. Our thoughts and prays are with you as you go through this tough time.

  38. Mary Fristad says:

    Dear Miss Armbrust,
What a sad way for your many years of dedicated and faithful service to St. Michael School to come to an end. I wish you God’s peace of mind, heart and soul during what must be an incredibly frustrating time for you. I pray for your sake, as well as for the entire St. Michael community, that justice is served. I am confident your faith is not shaken but am truly saddened that such an aberration occurred within our parish.
Our family’s prayers are with you, and the entire St. Michael School and church community,
    The Fiala-Fristad Family

  39. ruth grunewald says:

    Dear Tina,
I am at a loss for words. Someone who has dedicated her life to one institution in such a way as you should leave with celebation. Our 3 graduates of St. Michael and 2 grandchildren who attended St. Michael for 3yrs. remember you with affection and respect. Know that you are in our prayers.

  40. Daniela M Proca says:

    Thank you, Miss Armbrust,
For adopting our children in the big SMS family, seven years ago. I will never forget your welcoming smile and the way you always made us feel at home in SMS, although I was continents away from the place I was used to call home.
You are a great educator and a marvelous human being! God bless you!
We want to see you back at school…

  41. cory elzey says:

Thank you Miss Armbrust for being the most original, engaging and motivating teacher and coach I remember to this day. Your accomplishments prove you to be a leader, a teacher and a caregiver. To think of your dedication and hard work coming to an unwarranted and premature halt is infuriating.
I stopped in the school some number of years ago and was so happy to see you! It was many years after I had left, but you smiled immediately and knew just who I was. You are an incredible person. I hope to be able to stop by the school in the future and see you there again.
Please try to stay strong, as we know you are, and feel the support and love behind you.

    Sincerely,
    Cory Elzey
    Student 1982-87

  42. Barb Palumbo says:

    Dear Miss Armbrust,

I could go on and on but I’ll try to be brief. I am so sorry for what is happening to you. I hope that you will be reinstated. But if that is not meant to be I hope that through this unfortunate turn of events you find something in your life that will be even more fulfilling. It is an outrage that after so many years of dedicated service to this school and these kids and their families that you would be so mistreated. I thank you for what you have done for St. Michael School and for my kids. I wish you the best and I know that God is with you!

    Barb Palumbo

  43. Samantha Werner says:

    Miss Armbrust,
As a student at Saint Michael’s for eight years, I still remember the day in the first grade when you entered Mrs. Anderson’s classroom and we were taught to stand and greet you as we would greet every adult visitor to our classroom that year (not to mention every year that followed). I also remember you standing in the hallway greeting each one of us by name as we lined up to move to lunch, recess, or other classrooms. Your presence and involvement were within every fiber of that school- at mass, in the office, in our classrooms, on the sports teams, as a teacher… all of this information comes from my grade school memory and I am thankful to have had you as a guiding presence in my childhood years. It was a pleasure to have known you and I am thankful to have been at Saint Michael during your time there. You are in my thoughts and prayers as well as that of my family and we hope only the best for you.
Thank you for all you have done.
    Samantha Werner

  44. John Thornton says:

In 1983 I had the honor of being a student in Ms. Armbrust’s 3rd grade class. I was a nervous natured, shy, scared little boy who had just moved 3000 miles across the country. Ms. Armbrust welcomed me with open arms and turned what could have been a disaster year for me into a highlight of my adolescence. I have many fond memories of her class that year. In particular I recall many of the special projects she did to help us learn, such as recreating the organs of the human body as a team project. I made a papier-mâché large intestine and a playdoh small intestine which connected to a stomach another student had fashioned out of clay. We donned doctor masks and scrubs and proceeded to put the organs in their proper place. The experience was thrilling and sparked one of my many lifelong passions of understanding how thing work.
The following year Ms. Armbrust became principle. Through the years I was lucky enough to get to work with her as an 8th grader in the office, on student council and a score keeper for weekend volleyball games. Throughout that time I learned much about discipline, respect, honor, courage, commitment and how to have fun. Ms. Armbrust truly cared about each student in the school. My time at St. Mike prepared me well for high school, college and the real world, which eventually returned me 3000 miles away from St. Mikes.
A little over a year ago I was back in Ohio visiting my father who was suffering from cancer. I stopped by St. Mikes on the off chance that I might be able to reconnect with Ms. Armbrust as it had been many years since I had seen her. She was as welcoming to me that day as the day I stumbled into her third grade class. It was obvious to me that she still loved her job and still cared about her students.
Several months later my father passed and as visiting hours were coming to a close I looked up and who should walk through the door to support our family but Ms. Armbrust. In a time of much pain it was very comforting to know I still had a lifelong supporter in her.
She is an excellent principle and has had a significantly positive impact on my life.

  45. Rosalie Medert-Hoover says:

Miss Armbrust, I am so sorry for what has happened to you. To be treated this way after all your years of service is disgraceful, and the secrecy behind it equally so.. I am not a member of St. Michael’s parish, and I refer to myself as a cultural Catholic rather than a practicing one, but I have had experience with St. Michael’s students on field trips, and find them to be polite, respectful, and eager to learn. That doesn’t happen unless the principal runs a tight ship and has those same values herself. I thank you for all your hard work, and for turning out years of students with those values. I hope to see you back at St. Michael’s, and wish you luck in the future.

  46. Julie Benke says:

Miss Armbrust was my volleyball, softball, and basketball coach when I was a little girl attending St. Michael’s School back in 1977-1982. No person has influenced my life in such a meaningful way as Miss Armbrust. I was a shy, non-athletic type kid, who learned the power of hard work, discipline, team-work, and sportsmanship from Miss Armbrust. I only remember us losing ONE basketball game in all the seasons and sports we played (and that practice that followed the game- yikes!). This was all due to her dedication to developing us as people with integrity. It was never about winning- we learned to always give 110%. When she started teaching classes she equally successful and my sister (Jennifer) and I were not surprised to find out years later that she had become the principal. Having graduated from UCLA, worked on the Human Genome Project, and being a teacher now myself (AP/H/Reg Biology) I have Miss Armbrust to thank for giving me an inner strength to weather challenging times and do more with my life than I ever thought possible. This 38 year-old, wife and mother of one, and teacher to two-thousand plus kids hopes more of Miss Armbrust’s former students will write to show their support as well. She should be reinstated and the school owes her a BIG apology.

  47. Marie Flynn says:

    Dear Ms. Armbrust,
I have not had the pleasure of knowing you as my sons went to St. Timothy and Trinity Schools respectively, however, just from hearing about your situation from my friends and from reading the website, I am just furious that this can be allowed to happen to you. The diocese needs to listen to the parents of your school and make this situation right by reversing this extremely unjust decision. And your pastor needs to learn that just because he has “philosophical differences” with someone, he can’t just fire them when they’ve done so much for the school for so many years. I saw the encouraging and loving email from Ms. Kaunacki (Trinity’s former principal) on the website, and considering the respect and love I have for her, it further enhances my support for you. I too only pray that you will be reinstated (in time for the start of the school year) as you so richly deserve to be. God Bless you and as my husband (deceased) always used to say, “Keep The Faith”.
A St. Christopher Parishioner, Marie Flynn

  48. Rita Volpi says:

I was a student of Miss Armbrust’s during her first year at St. Michael’s when she taught 3rd grade and remained at St. Michael’s through 8th grade, during which she was my coach for basketball and softball. Miss Armbrust was a great teacher & coach, always defining high expectations and acting with compassion for her students. She was a tremendous role model for young women, demonstrating leadership and the power of teamwork. Reading many of the blogs and websites now posted in her honor, it seems like she continued to lead the school with the same integrity, so I can’t really understand why she would be let go. An expectation that people would just accept this decision blindly is ludicrous. I hope that the diocese either provides some better communication about this decision or even better, reinstates her.

Thank you, Miss Armbrust! – Rita

  49. Mary Lu Wood says:

    Dear Miss Armbrust,
I was stunned when Clara Marie told me we got a letter stating you were terminated from your position. I could not believe it of all things St. Michaels would let you go, but after looking into this further apparently a lot of us did not know. I am so very sorry you were treated this way and I will also do what I can to support you as you did my daughter for nine years. I do not know what the students and parents are going to do at St. Micheal’s School now, they will never be heard.
Thank you for all the help you have given to so many children for so many years.

Unlike many of the people who have commented here, I did not go to St. Michaels. I met Tina when she and I had decided to continue our education at Columbus State in 2005. We had both decided to get a degree as a vet tech, and actually became friends when she accidentally stuck me with a needle. Her dedication to the children of St. Michael’s was clearly evident. We took classes at night, and also in the last few quarters had to also do internships. I know there were many nights, Saturdays and Sundays that Tina spent working at St. Michaels. She was always running around, making sure she was at sporting events, parent meetings, school board meetings, anything that she needed to do to support the kids. I just found out today about this, and I know in my heart that Tina would never have done anything to jeopardize the children of St. Michaels. She lived for the school year, and for her career. She is an amazing example of perserverance and dedication. I don’t know how she did it all, but when we graduated from CSCC in 2007, she graduated as a salutatorian for the whole college. She enthusiastically led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. She went back to school to show her love for animals…she is planning to someday open a shelter/boarding facility. That is what she was going to do in retirement, not fight for her job and reputation. I hope that there can be a resolution for this catastrophe, because there is no better person to teach your children to be a great human being than Christine Armbrust. Love you Tina, and am thinking about you…

    Miss Armbrust
We want you to know that we are keeping you in our prayers. We are greatful for the time you spent making St. Michael’s a great school. It was a pleasure having our children at the school while you were there. I have to say that both our sons have done very well at Watterson and we give you credit. When our sons were at St. Michael’s they received a great education. I feel this has allowed them to do well in high school and in college.. Thank you

    Dear Miss Armbrust,
When we moved to Columbus in May of 2006, we visited about 6 catholic schools in a few different suburbs such as Dublin, Hilliard, Upper Arlington & Columbus b/f visiting SMS which was our last stop. Your secretary Ms. Walent couldnot have been any more correct!!
She had told me on the phone the day b/f our visit to SMS that ” you have saved the best for the last”. The minute we walked into SMS we knew this is where we wanted our children to be. You were a major part in that decision. You instantly came across not only as an educator who has totally commited your adult life to shaping the lives of young children, but as somebody who continues to enjoy your role after so many years. Your passion, commitment, and dedication to SMS was crystal clear.
Since then our children/us have never had to second guess the decision we made. You have nurtured them unlike any other Principal. You truly touched the lives of not only my 3 children but each and every child that passed the halls of SMS. I want to thank you most sincerely for the passion with which you lead SMS. I will not say “we wish you a happy retirement” b/c I truly belive your job at SMS is not finished and that justice will prevail and that you eventually will be back at SMS to complete your unfinished work and retire gracefully in a fashion that would fit a great educator like you. Till then I want to wish you all the best during this difficult time. Yashi in particular was really looking forward to working closely with you even more so than the previous years. I truly hope you will be back soon so that this graduating class will not miss that opportunity that kids for some 30years may have even taken for granted. I want to wish you peace of mind, and inner strength during this difficult time but want you to know that we are all waiting for justice to prevail and to have you back at SMS. majority of SMS community is waiting to embrace you with open arms so that you could once more guide our kids until they leave SMS. Sincere thanks for all that you have done over the years to SMS in general and to my kids in particular. We could not have expected a better role model to lead the school during their formative year.
    Thank You!!

    Miss Armbrust,

Since we now have received the letter that supposedly gives closure to this situation, it is fitting to formally thank you for devoting your adult life to the families of St. Michael School. The countless stories of kind acts on your part and excellence in your roles as principal, coworker, mentor, and friend are a testament to what you have meant to our school community. My children are wiser students, stronger athletes, more empathic citizens, and more faithful Catholics as a result of the schooling they received under your vigilant guidance, Those of us who have had the pleasure and good fortune to have crossed your path will never forget you and never quite get over losing you so abruptly and prematurely. God bless you in all that you do.

Located your blog via msn the other day and absolutely adore it. Continue the truly great work.

  55. Karen Sokol says:

Miss Armburst I would like to thank you for all your wonderful years of dedication to St. Michael School. I was amazed how totally upbeat you always seemed not matter what was going on. I just read your beautiful letter you wrote to the parents and staff, and I was moved. I wish you all the best. I believe even though a door was slammed in your face God has amazing plans waiting through another. Thank you for providing a wonderful school environment for our children. You and the students of St. Michael’s are in my prayers.

  56. Lexi (McMurray) Powers says:

    Ms. Armbrust,
I do not know if you remember me (Lexi McMurray), but my experience at St. Michael’s School is one of the reasons I wanted to become a teacher. I try to mirror the loving support I received while learning in my classroom every day. You and your staff taught me that every student matters and their feelings, voices and concerns are valid and should be respected. While I am a resident of Westerville, it was my fond memories of my time at St. Mike’s that called me back there to be married to my husband, Dave.
I was extremely saddened to find out about the present turn of events. I hope that the diocese will do what is right and let you influence more young and unsure students towards living a good and meaningful life. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
    Sincerely,
    Lexi (McMurray) Powers
